As of Christmas and my birthday (today!), the amount of games in my dedicated backlog category has exceeded triple digits. Not to mention there are games I have publicly promised to friends to finish in the next month that have been left unplayed for a year. It makes me happy that I am so easily entertained by Arknights alone, but I am also ashamed to call myself a gamer, and Tim Buckley could squeeze a year's worth of Ctrl+Alt+Del comics out of me.
So, as of today, I'm going nuclear and have introduced my good friend The Wheel to save me from the depths of this hell.
The Rules
- The Wheel begins its tyranny with a single spin. The game that the wheel lands on is the only game I am allowed to play (with exceptions below) until an hour of playtime has been exceeded, in which I may spin the wheel again. Of course, if I find I like the game, I am allowed to keep playing until I want to spin the wheel again.
- Exceptions: Multiplayer games I am invited to are cool to play during the period. Arknights, obviously. Little Goody Two Shoes. Slay the Princess. Limbus Company.
- If the wheel lands on a "FREE SPACE," I am relieved of the Wheel's control for 2 days.
- Every two weeks during the period, I am given the Safety Goldenglow in which I can use it to do one respin. This is unstockable; use it or lose it.
- I will do my best to get the game to work, but if it refuses to work or I need friends to play it :( I am allowed to deem it unplayable and respin. This is based on an honor system, since I can't think of any ways to quantify "unplayable" games.
- This is for games that some poor sod (including myself) has spent money, but there are games like Save the Date that are free that are in the list, so I'm open to any free game suggests, or games in the Bundle for Ukraine. Suggest on Discord @frostu8.
Like many ideas that erupt this concerningly close to New Year's, this is probably going to only last a couple days. Therefore, this isn't really supposed to be a blog post about progress, more about setting the rules of the game.
